We Demand Impeachment

Our congressman, Jerrold Nadler has usually been supportive of progressive, human rights causes and advocated research into illnesses caused by the toxic air after 9/11. You might think he'd be at the forefront of holding the Bush administration accountable for the crimes perpetuated in America, Afghanistan, Iraq and the world, but read David Swanson's report:
Nadler Is Blocking Impeachment
http://www.democrats.com/node/15492
[...] Wednesday's meeting was handicapped, of course, because no-one says aloud what the reasons are for opposing impeachment. That Cheney and Bush have committed impeachable offenses is universally understood. But the arguments against impeaching them (other priorities,
bipartisanship, we don't have the votes, etc.) usually sound like lame cover for whatever the real reason is. I suspect the real reason is built into Nadler's plan of wasting a year in order to pass bills next year. He assumes that in 2009 there will be either a better Congress or a better president (he backs Hillary Clinton), or both.
Sadly, history says otherwise. For 230 years, the party that brings impeachment wins, and the party that fails to do so when it's called for loses. Conyers was there when the Democrats moved to impeach Nixon and then won big. He was there when they refused to impeach Reagan and then lost. And most of the current committee was there when the Republicans impeached Clinton against the will of the public for a non-impeachable offense and still won both houses of Congress and the White House.
[...] [Robert] Wexler proposed opening impeachment hearings on Cheney. Conyers committee staffer Perry Appelbaum laid out instead a schedule for non-impeachment hearings over the coming 11 months. Conyers' notion is to hold non-impeachment hearings on "the imperial presidency" and run out the clock .[...]

Resolve to Impeach This Administration

Cheney Impeachment Cracks Corporate Media
Congressman Robert Wexler writes:
"The mainstream media has awakened to this movement and to the extraordinary support you have given it. Your calls, letters, and emails have clearly made a difference. Already 140,000 people have joined us in demanding impeachment hearings for Vice President Dick Cheney."
Congress is watching, so... Add your name http://www.wexlerwantshearings.com

Cries for Justice to Converge on DC on 1/11
On December 1st, a former college professor named John Nirenberg left Boston, Massachusetts, to begin a one-man march to Nancy Pelosi's office in Washington, D.C., to demand that she restore our Constitution and lift her ban on the use of its most central check on abuses of power: impeachment. John plans to arrive in Washington, D.C., on January 11th, and we should all be there to welcome him: http://www.marchinmyname.org
Close Guantánamo
Friday, January 11, 2008, is also the day for actions in Washington, D.C., and around the country aimed at closing the illegal U.S. prison in Guantánamo. January 11th will be the 6-year anniversary of the first prisoners being brought to Guantánamo.
Last year on the same date, 500 people marched, 150 risked arrest, and 88 were arrested in Washington, many of them refusing to provide their names and instead using the names of men held in Guantánamo. This year, events will begin with a rally on the National Mall co-sponsored with Amnesty International and the National Religious Campaign Against Torture followed by a “prisoner procession” to the Supreme Court.

What People Are Saying About "Impeach Bush and Cheney" Bracelets

Katherine B. writes: "I just wanted to let you know that I was thrilled I got the bracelets in time for the Springsteen show in DC. We (the members of a popular website for Springsteen fans) had a big pre-party before the show I used the bracelets to help raise money for our charity, HUNGRY FOR MUSIC which was founded by ESB guitar player, Nils Lofgren. I had no problem selling them and I probably could have sold another 25 of them. We ended up raising $500 for the charity. They were a hit and I hope to get one to The Boss himself when he returns to the US. I wear mine proudly. Thanks again." GET YOURS: http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/bracelet

The Time Is NOW!

Dennis Kucinich has been working on impeaching Cheney for years and I really can't imagine what ELSE the citizens of our country need to learn about the Vice Sociopath to get him out of office. Put the pressure on your reps and get this murderer out of our White House. NOTHING will change until that happens. Kucinich is leading and we MUST support him. Please?
Impeach Cheney Now!

Congressman Dennis Kucinich, whose bill to impeach Cheney has 22 sponsors, will introduce a resolution on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on November 6. Another congress member will move to table (kill) the resolution. The vote will come on the 6th, 7th, or 8th. We need you to ask your representative to vote No on tabling, Yes on giving impeachment a chance. Those who vote Yes to table cannot use the excuse that "We don't have the votes," since others will at that same instant with exactly the same exertion be voting No.
Please scroll down to contact Congress and the media right away!
Spread the word with these flyers.

There Will Be a News Conference Following the Introduction of the Resolution on Nov. 6th at 3 p.m. in 2456 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, D.C.
