Saudi Prince Buys Faux News

Thanks to Joseph Trento for providing a personal glimpse into the greed machine that has become the news business.  Below is more info from HuffPost regarding this Prince's meddling in the USA's internal affairs.  Forget about freedom of the press, my friends.  It's all about the bottom line.
Trento’s Take:
Fox News Can’t Upset Murdoch’s Saudi Prince
03 February 2010
Written by Joseph Trento
[...]  I had said to Doocy that Saudi Arabian money was still financing Al Qaeda. Doocy did not react to my comment. But ten days later I learned that Fox’s parent company, News Corporation, was, at the time of my interview, negotiating with a Saudi prince to vastly increase his stake in the company.
The notorious Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, nephew to the Saudi king, met with Rupert Murdoch in Hong Kong on Jan. 14. The prince issued a press release after the meeting stating that the prince’s Kingdom Holding Company had discussions that "touched upon future potential alliances with News Corp."
[...]  Alwaleed is the same Saudi prince who made headlines right after 9/11 when he personally went to Ground Zero and offered then-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani a $10 million check for the relief efforts. But Alwaleed could not keep his mouth shut. He released a bizarre statement that blamed the attacks – not on the 15 airline hijackers from Saudi Arabia – but on the United States’ support of Israel. Giuliani, “America’s mayor,” saw a political opportunity and, confident that his reaction was appropriate, immediately refused the prince’s donation. He said: “There is no moral equivalent for this attack.”
Remarkably, I find myself agreeing with Frank Gaffney, a former Reagan appointee who is not happy about Murdoch’s new dealings with the prince. He recently wrote:
... Even more troubling than having a Saudi spinmeister, even a lousy one, at the decision-making table of America’s most successful, and conservative, television network is another aspect of Al-Waleed’s deal with Mr. Murdoch. The Australian entrepreneur has reportedly also given the prince the unfiltered ability to broadcast Saudi-produced materials directly into America on Murdoch’s satellite. Here’s how that part of the deal will evidently work: Prince Al-Waleed’s Rotana Audio Visual Company, which operates TV channels in the Middle East, has signed a deal with DirecTV, the TV-satellite firm controlled by News Corp. As a result, it would seem Rotana will be able to beam its programs into U.S. cable boxes without interference from federal regulators, or anybody else…What passes for entertainment in Saudi Arabia mostly looks like jihadist agitprop to the rest of us. Rotana has a huge library of movies, music and television programs. Such programming has to also include vicious anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, and anti-American incitement. That is, after all, the only kind of material the Wahhabi religious censors approve for production and broadcast in Saudi Arabia. Could that be what the prince has in mind for DirecTV subscribers? [...]

Here's the HuffingtonPost's coverage of Prince Alwaleed's business exploits, including threats to Citigroup:
Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Seeks Deeper Ties To News Corp
TAREK EL-TABLAWY | 01/17/10
CAIRO — The Saudi billionaire whose investment firm is one of the biggest stakeholders in Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. said he is looking to expand his alliances with the media giant, in the latest indication that his appetite for growth remains robust even as his company retrenches.
Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, a nephew of the Saudi king and who was listed last year by Forbes as the world's 22nd richest person, met with News Corp.'s chief executive Rupert Murdoch on Jan. 14 in a meeting that "touched upon future potential alliances with News Corp.," according to a statement released by his Kingdom Holding Co. late Saturday.
[...]  Kingdom Holding's statement said Alwaleed is already the second largest stakeholder in News Corp., with 5.7 percent of the shares of the media company. The stake is held through Kingdom Holding, in which Alwaleed holds a 95 percent stake.
The investment company has a diverse portfolio, ranging from hotels to shares in Apple, eBay and Citigroup.
Alwaleed, and the investment firm, were hit hard by the global meltdown.
He has since focused on shoring up borrowing power, in part through a recent decision to transfer 180 million of his shares in Citigroup to Kingdom Holding. In a statement last week, he described the move – valued at about $600 million – as key to facilitating future borrowing and growth.
The Saudi royal also met last week with Citigroup's chief executive Vikram Pandit, according to a statement by Kingdom Holding e-mailed Sunday.
Alwaleed raised his stake in Citigroup to 5 percent in late 2008 from less than 4 percent in a move that came as the company was facing a possible collapse. Kingdom Holding says Alwaleed is the single largest shareholder in Citigroup.
Citigroup has repaid the money it borrowed from the U.S. government during the financial crisis, but still faces a new fee to be levied on banks by the Obama administration to recoup $120 billion in taxpayer money used to support faltering companies.
Alwaleed said he was opposed to the move, arguing that "I believe taxing the banks right now is not the right time at all."

[...]  The $120 billion recovery goal is the most that administration officials expect to lose from the government's $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program that bailed out banks, automakers and other financial firms.
Alwaleed's Rotana already has an alliance with News Corp.
In 2008, the two companies teamed up to bring Fox Movies to the Arab world and then last year, Rotana and Fox International Channels signed a multi-year output deal with The Walt Disney Co. to provide a range of programing to viewers in the Middle East, according to the statement by Kingdom Holding.

Rudy Returns to Rape & Pillage NYC Again

Now this is a scary thought. Just when you thought we were free of him, Rudy "Two Fists" Giuliani's gonna sink his fangs into our terra, making in nota so firma.
Giuliani Firm Plans Real Estate Investment Fund
By MARC SANTORA
Published: July 20, 2008
Entering the real estate market at a time of profound turmoil, Rudolph W. Giuliani’s company is planning an investment fund based on commercial and residential properties in New York and Washington, members of the venture said last week.
The fund is Mr. Giuliani’s first formal foray into the real estate world and represents the continuing diversification of his business, Giuliani Partners, a management and consulting company he founded shortly after leaving City Hall in 2002.
In addition to his business efforts, Mr. Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, continues to be active on the political front. This week he will be raising money for his federal political action committee, Solutions America, a senior aide said. He will also announce the creation of a state committee geared at helping Republicans retain their tenuous control of the State Senate. The creation of the state committee was reported on Saturday by The New York Post.
Despite rumors that Mr. Giuliani is considering a run for governor, the aide said, he has made no decisions about re-entering politics. [So why’s he raising money and creating a federal political action committee?]
[...] Over the last year, as Mr. Giuliani competed in the Republican primary for president, he was largely absent from his company, and it shrank both in staff and in client base.
“It is fair to say that his running did have an impact on the business at the time,” said Anthony V. Carbonetti, a managing director at Giuliani Partners. “Now that Rudy is back full time, we see a great resurgence and feel very confident that we are getting back to where we were before the run.”
[...] The real estate investment fund, like the other operations, will be something of a boutique shop. Mr. Giuliani’s company is going to form a partnership with Berman Enterprises, a family-owned company based in Rockville, Md., said Jeffrey E. Berman, one of the company’s partners.
They hope to raise $500 million to $750 million from investors to buy real estate, mainly in New York and Washington, with Berman Enterprises responsible for raising at least 10 percent of the capital.
The minimum threshold for an investor to take part in the fund, which will formally be called the Berman Enterprises Opportunity Fund, will be $25 million, Mr. Berman said. [You can buy a lot of bagels and pizza with that kinda money!]
[...] “When we decided to put the fund together in my family, the money we wanted to go for was overseas money, and Rudy has a lot of traction overseas,” he said.
Mr. Giuliani’s firm has done significant amounts of business overseas, advising clients in countries from the Middle East to East Asia. In addition, Mr. Giuliani’s law firm, Bracewell & Giuliani, has an office in Kazakhstan. [That’s our Rudy. Mr. Jet Set, always at the place to be seen!]
[...] At Giuliani Partners, the real estate investment fund will be overseen by Mr. Carbonetti and Geoffrey N. Hess, another managing partner with experience in real estate.
Mr. Carbonetti said the firm had helped broker occasional real estate deals in the past. For example, when Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village were put up for sale in 2006, the government of Qatar submitted a bid through Mr. Giuliani’s firm. But the country was ultimately unsuccessful in acquiring the property, which sold for $5.4 billion.
[...] Mr. Carbonetti said he was aware that should Mr. Giuliani choose to run for public office in the future, his business connections would be closely scrutinized, as they had been in the presidential campaign. But he said he saw little possibility of conflicts growing out of the fund.
[...] Mr. Carbonetti said the fund would look for undervalued properties in prime neighborhoods. The company believes the current turmoil in the market, with banks hesitant to extend loans and prices falling, presents an opportunity for investors with large amounts of cash at their disposal, Mr. Berman said.
The real estate markets in Washington and New York City have some significant differences, Mr. Berman said. The market for office space in Washington has proved resilient, he said, in large part because the federal government always needs space, while New York has been buoyed by international investment and has not seen as sharp a downturn in its housing market. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/20/nyregion/20rudy.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

Quality of Who's Life?

Here is the antidote to the idea of Giuliani's venture into real estate:
City of Disorder
How the Quality of Life Campaign Transformed New York Politics Alex S. Vitale
In the 1990s, improving the quality of life became a primary focus and a popular catchphrase of the governments of New York and many other American cities. Faced with high levels of homelessness and other disorders associated with a growing disenfranchised population, then mayor Rudolph Giuliani led New York's zero tolerance campaign against what was perceived to be an increase in disorder that directly threatened social and economic stability. In a traditionally liberal city, the focus had shifted dramatically from improving the lives of the needy to protecting the welfare of the middle and upper classes—a decidedly neoconservative move.
In City of Disorder, Alex S. Vitale analyzes this drive to restore moral order which resulted in an overhaul of the way New York views such social problems as prostitution, graffiti, homelessness, and panhandling. Through several fascinating case studies of New York neighborhoods and an in-depth look at the dynamics of the NYPD and of the city's administration itself, Vitale explains why Republicans have won the last four New York mayoral elections and what the long-term impact Giuliani's zero tolerance method has been on a city historically known for its liberalism.

Demand An Investigation of Kelvar Helmets

This takes 5 minutes, so please, do it! Maybe someday there also will be an investigation into why Rudy Giuliani "gave" Motorola another no-bid contract for NYC Firefighters' communications radios AFTER THE FAILURE of the first bunch. WTC Bombing '93 wasn't scary enough?
Join Veterans to Demand Hearings on Substandard Helmet Procurement
Last week, the New York Times reported that the Bush Pentagon had agreed to a contract for more Kevlar helmets for our troops from the very company that was being sued for cheating troops out of helmets that met military standards. Especially at a time when so many troops are in harm’s way, no such company should ever receive a new contract. Demand that Congress investigate how this could have happened, by signing our petition below. We’ll deliver your signatures to Capitol Hill.
Petition to Demand Hearings on Substandard Helmet Procurement
We the undersigned call upon the United States Congress to investigate how Sioux Manufacturing received a contract from the Bush Administration’s Pentagon to produce Kevlar helmets for our troops, after the company was found to have previously produced substandard helmets in the past.

The Terror in London's Tubes

Were the London bombings of 7/7 a false flag and black op? If you think it's possible, "7/7 Ripple Effect" will be perhaps the "Loose Change" for those seeking reasonable answers to the "terrorist attacks" in London.
CRUCIAL VIDEO: "7/7 Ripple Effect"
Friday, February 08, 2008
Here's an excellent account of the London bombings of July 7, 2005 -- a
vitally important and often overlooked specimen of state-sponsored false-flag terror at its worst.

I remember it all so well ... I was in a high-pressure blogging situation at the time, pulling double duty and desperate for something to write about. As a story, for somebody like me, it was a gift from Heaven. Right from the very beginning it had all the signs of a black op, and I said so at the time.
Rudy Giuliani was there. Benyamin Netanyahu was there -- and Netanyahu was warned not to leave his hotel, just a few minutes before a bomb exploded in the nearest tube station.
Peter Power explained that his consulting firm was involved in a terrorism-preparedness drill working with the exact scenario that transpired -- four explosions: three on trains and one on a bus ... and in exactly the same locations, too!
Think about that for a moment -- how far beyond coincidental can you get? This was treason of the highest order, and at the very top of the government.

[...]
vitally important and often overlooked specimen of state-sponsored false-flag terror at its worst. Ever since I started blogging I've been trying to place terror in the context of government, in a deeper and more meaningful way than the approach followed by some more mainstream reporters such as Rolling Stone and Keith Olbermann, who draw connections between bogus terror alerts and political crises, but don't talk about how actual governments in search of ever-increasing power have participated in actual terror attacks which have killed hundreds or thousands or even more actual innocent people.[...] http://winterpatriot.blogspot.com/2008/02/crucial-video-77-ripple-effect.html

"Scoop & Dump Them"?!! It's A Horror and Disgrace Rudy Giuliani is The Butcher of 9/11

Like a splash of ice water across the face, this news from We Are Change places our dreadful fears right into the bright light of day. On January 19 a Port Authority Police Officer reported to We Are Change that 2 more body fragments from 9/11 were found on site. This news is NOT being reported in the mainstream press ... yet!
Body Remains Found at Ground Zero Site Kept Secret

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UM8II5dl0Js&sdig=1

Citizen Journalists: Please spread the word. This discover gives us at least two clear missions, and neither of them have anything to do with conspiracy theories:
1. Provide the families with some consolation by forcing Mayor Bloomberg and the powers that be to do everything possible to find the remains of our loved ones. That means STOP ALL CONSTRUCTION until the site has been thoroughly cleaned; and
2. Help the 9/11 First Responders, not with sweet words of praise but with medical care, emotional support and provide them with anything they need to continue living decent lives, for as long as possible.

Rudy Must Respond

Why has Giuliani turned his back on the 9/11 First Responders? We are all trying to get on with our lives in this post-9/11 world, but the real heroes carry physical particles from the towers in their bodies.
Philip Landrigan, MD stated before the 9/11 Commission: “millions of microscopic shards of glass… asbestos, dioxins, … jet fuel…, organic solvents, most notably benzene…a mix that’s never previously been encountered....”

The REAL heroes of 9-11 sacrificed everything for their country.
Rudy Giuliani has abandoned them.
Sign the petition demanding Rudy Giuliani
meet with the 9-11 first responders.

And while we are at it, please help get the word out about Rudy's no-bid contract to Motorola and the failure of those untested radios on 9/11/01. Hundreds of lives, maybe thousands would have been saved if not for the exclusive contract given to the same company whose radios failed in the 1993 WTC bombing.

Prove it or Shut Up!

Here's news from a different front, the medical marijuana debate. Thanks to the Marijuana Policy Project for letting us know of yet another scandal in the White House: use of public funds for political purposes. Below is a synopsis of how they are nailing the Repug contenders on their continual use of lies to promote themselves (and line their pockets via big Pharma). As always, I've highlighted in bold text that should make you scream! Enjoy!

On Monday, Congress passed an omnibus spending bill that funds the White House drug czar’s ad campaign at only $60 million for 2008. This figure is down from $99 million for 2007 ... and is considerably less than President Bush’s request of $130 million for 2008. In fact, since 2002, the lobbying efforts of MPP and a host of other organizations have helped to achieve a 66% reduction in funding for the White House’s ad campaign.
[…] The bill also admonishes the drug czar — and his Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) — for travel for political purposes on the taxpayers’ dime. In the months before the November 2006 elections, the drug czar and his deputies traveled to 20 events to help vulnerable Republican members of Congress get re-elected — illegally spending taxpayer money to do so — including two trips to Nevada to oppose our ballot initiative to end marijuana prohibition entirely.
The bill chastens, “The Committees are aware of instigations of travel by ONDCP officials that may have occurred for political purposes and caution the Director and other high-ranking officials that travel should occur for official business reasons only, not for political gain ...”
Giuliani, Romney, McCain Offered $10,000 to Prove Their Statements on Medical Marijuana — December 6, 2007
MANCHESTER, NH -- At a press conference in front of Rudy Giuliani's Manchester headquarters this morning with a massive mobile truck billboard in tow, a representative of the Marijuana Policy Project joined two New Hampshire patients to challenge presidential candidates Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and Mitt Romney to back up their statements regarding medical marijuana with scientific evidence, offering the legal maximum $10,000 campaign contribution to any of the three who can prove that their statements are true.
[…] Since appeals to science, compassion and common sense haven't worked, we're talking to them in a language we know they understand -- campaign contributions. If Giuliani, Romney or McCain can back up their claims that medical marijuana isn't needed or is too dangerous, we'll give their campaign $10,000, but if they can't, they need to stop lying."
Any responses from the campaigns will be evaluated by an independent panel of medical experts. An image of the billboard along with full details of the challenge and relevant scientific data are posted at http://www.medicalmarijuanaworks.org/.
In responses to questions posed by New Hampshire voters at campaign events, all three leading Republicans have claimed that marijuana is either too dangerous for medical use or not needed because adequate substitutes exist -- claims that are contradicted by published scientific data. In letters being delivered today to each of the three candidates, Kampia cited their specific statements and challenged them to supply proof. In his letter to Giuliani, Kampia wrote:
"We find it notable that you dismiss marijuana as too dangerous for medical use, while your law firm represented Purdue Pharma -- the makers of the highly addictive and toxic opioid OxyContin -- given that the company paid $634.5 million in fines and penalties for misleading doctors and patients about the drug's abuse potential, and given that a growing body of evidence suggests that medical marijuana can reduce the use of such highly addictive opioid painkillers."
Complete copies of all three letters and a photo of the mobile billboard are available from MPP director of communications Bruce Mirken, at 202-215-4205.

Go to the MPP site for ways to get involved. Here’s one way to help the cause and also purchase last minute presents:
When you shop at major online retailers, such as Amazon.com, Gap.com, and many others, you can have a portion of the cost of your purchase automatically donated to MPP — without adding to the cost of your purchase. To get started, simply register with http://www.igive.com/, and then enter MPP as your cause (cause ID = 2564). Then, shop with any of the hundreds of participating merchants and a portion of the purchase price will be sent to MPP. This won't increase the cost of your purchases by even one cent.

Stop MTA MADness!

What about the books? How can the MTA AGAIN have a surplus but need us to fork over more money? Why won't they let citizens find out where our hard earned money goes? I've decided we must make such a stink that they are forced to. Let's educate each other AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE about potential fraud and misconduct on the part of the MTA. It should be CRIMINAL to treat citizens like cattle off to slaughter when we are just trying to get to work.
Remember: MTA: Stop the MADness! Open the BOOKS!
[...] In 2005, [NYC] riders paid 55% of the costs of running the subways and buses. Metro-North riders paid 51% and LIRR riders paid 47%.But riders in other cities pay much less. The national average for the top 50 transit systems is 37%. In Chicago it’s 43%, in Philadelphia its 37% and in Boston it’s just 29%.
As the New York Times has noted: “The city and state have unconscionably underfinanced mass transit for years, a legacy of Gov. George Pataki and Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. The formula for funding mass transportation should be changed before any fares are raised.”

Sign the Petition:
The MTA is predicting a $300 million surplus next year. But they still want to raise fares on 86% of all trips. Working families already struggle to make it in New York, and now this?

Rudy's 9/11 Albatross

News just in from Sander Hicks and 9/11 truth seekers in Colorado. Please note the Giuliani campaign has assigned "cheerleaders" to try to drown out questions from patriots:
This Saturday, alongside new activist groups We Are Change, Colorado, and Truth Alliance, I helped to insert some political dialogue into a Rudolf Giuliani campaign event, north of Denver in Loveland, Colorado. We came well prepared and organized to ask about 9/11.
According to the media coverage, 9/11 skeptics stole the show. We Are Change has posted video, which is original footage followed by Fox and ABC's versions:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7475540276815636499&q=loveland+giuliani&total=2&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0
It's 16 Minutes long. Don't miss these highlights:
At 6:41, Giuliani admits "There are conspiracy theorists all over." (!)
At 7:11 he unleashes a demonic cackle as I ask my question, and then get assaulted by police.
What really happened on Saturday was a reporter and independent publisher was grabbed for asking a sensitive question. 9/11 is Giuliani's one political strong point, but to people who know more about 9/11, it's his albatross.

...I asked the most relevant question about Giuliani. He has been asked about this before, in a different phrasing, by 9/11 Victims family member, Sabrina Rivero, [here's the original link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n7uJnKGTGg] on May 29, 2007. Giuliani lied to her.
…I prepared as a professional journalist, and had a good hard question that cited its sources.
That question was:
"Six Years ago, on 9/11/01, you told Peter Jennings, 'we were told that the World Trade Center was going to collapse.' Who told you? Why were the firefighters not informed?"
…I had prepared by watching the ABC news footage of Giuliani himself saying this, which you can see, here:

Schroeder's compelling testimony contradicts
official story at every turn

Paul Joseph Watson, Prison Planet, Thursday, August 9, 2007
"People just come running out of the elevators on fire.... I was like what is going on here, something's up here - I mean the plane's up there now there's fire down here?"
... Schroeder's team was baffled as to why so much death and destruction was evident in the lower levels of the tower when the plane had hit so high up.
"It looked like a bomb went off in the lobby," said Schroeder.
... Schroeder also recalls the message that was broadcast in the south tower after the north tower had been hit telling workers to stay in the building.
"I heard that myself - stay home, stay home - so we're like who is this guy to tell anybody at this point in time - I mean from the first time we got to the west side highway we looked up and there was 30 floors of fire, you got another building right next to it with thousands of people in it - get 'em out! It's plain and simple here! Oh go back to work - yeah now they'll never go back to work," exclaimed Schroeder.
"I would like to know who that person was," he added.
Schroeder also slammed Rudy Giuliani for ordering the police to arrest the firefighters after they refused to stop digging for their buddies.
