Right On, Rachel!

Keith Olberman has just brought in Rachel Maddow to announce her new program on MSNBC! She's going to start Sept. 8 at the time slot right after Countdown w/Keith Olberman, and that means ONE WHOLE HOUR of solid populist perspective on down home media!
Here's an oldie from Rachel's youtube site, Campaign Asylum to keep us going until Rachel is on TV EVERY NIGHT!
Rachel Maddow's Campaign Asylum: Hookers Hookers Everywhere!

BTW-- The show needs a title. Since she's thinking about having a band on, how about Ravin' with Rachel? Works for me.

Veterans for Peace members have been trying to meet with Representative John Conyers to deliver an Impeachment petition.
Wednesday, June 11, members of Veterans For Peace will be delivering 22,000 signatures demanding impeachment of President George Bush to Representative John Conyers' office. Representative Conyers, chair of the House Judiciary Committee, has refused to meet with the members of VFP for the past two months. Upon arriving at Representative Conyers' office, members from New York, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio and the District of Columbia have decided to conduct a sit-in until he agrees to meet with them.
In light of Congressman Dennis Kucinich putting forth 35 Articles for Impeachment and reading those Articles on the floor of the House of Representatives last night, 6-09-08...
YOU CAN HELP VFP
Call Representative Conyers (202-225-5126), ask that he meet with members of Veterans For Peace and accept the 22,000 signatures that call for the Impeachment of the President.

Righteous Rachel Races to the White House!

While Air America Radio flounders over Randi Rhodes' suspension and the fury of us listeners who are missin' her, there is one good story coming out from under their large, controlling, liberally-feathery wing, and that's Rachel Maddow's ability to charm, be herself and promote the best of what progressive is about.

Rachel Maddow: Progressive Media's Next Mainstream Star
By Rory O'Connor, AlterNet. Posted April 10, 2008.
As the seemingly endless Democratic presidential primary slog enters its second spring, one amazing woman has managed -- by relentless dint of hard work, long experience, sharp intelligence, quick wit, quicker quips and a winning smile -- to shatter the glass ceiling and take her rightful place in the traditional boys' club of big-time politics.
No, not her -- Rachel Maddow!
That's right -- a woman who calls herself "a supplicant who worships in the Temple of Journalism" -- but who others have described as "Amy Goodman with animal noises" -- is now firmly ensconced in the upper echelon of the political punditocracy. With her own rising radio show on Air America, coupled with regular appearances on MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann program, where she is often, oddly and excellently paired with Patrick Buchanan, this self-described "35-year-old, liberal, lesbian girl-who-looks-like-a-man" is on the brink of becoming progressive media's next mainstream breakout star. One significant measure of Maddow's new-found favor: the decision by MSNBC, effective next week, to hire her as a regular panelist on its newest nightly campaign program Race for the White House -- and to allow Air America to simulcast the 6 p.m. nightly program as the first hour of its own nightly Rachel Maddow show.
[...] Rachel Maddow is nothing if not clear -- about the distinctions between news, opinion and entertainment, but also about her own distinct beliefs, politics, and persona, and about where progressive media may be heading. "I think the more power the Democrats gain, the better off progressive radio and progressive media is," she concluded. "I felt like I was outside banging on a locked door when Republicans were in power seemingly everywhere. But the closer we get to retaking the country, the closer we get to overtaking the traditional media in terms of content and influence."

Olbermann Reveals Bush is a Terrorist

Olberman's at it again. Go to the link at the bottom for the video:
A veto of the FISA bill endangers Americans
Olbermann: The president is demanding immunity for the telecoms yet, he can’t confirm they did anything for which they need to be cleared SPECIAL COMMENT, By Keith Olbermann
Anchor, 'Countdown', MSNBC, dated Thurs., Feb. 14, 2008
[...] Mark Klein was the AT&T whistleblower who explained in the placid, dull terms of your local neighborhood IT desk how he personally attached all AT&T circuits, everything, carrying every one of your phone calls, every one of your e-mails, every bit of your Web browsing into a secure room, room No. 641-A at the Folsom Street facility in San Francisco, where it was all copied so the government could look at it.
Not some of it, not just the international part of it, certainly not just the stuff some spy, a spy both patriotic and telepathic, might be able to divine had been sent or spoken by or to a terrorist.
Everything! Every time you looked at a naked picture. Every time you bid on eBay. Every time you phoned in a donation to a Democrat. “My thought was,” Mr. Klein told us last November, “George Orwell’s ‘1984.’ And here I am, forced to connect the Big Brother machine.”
And if there’s one thing we know about Big Brother, Mr. Bush, it is that he is — you are — a liar.
OOOH When Olberman calls Bush a liar I get soooooooo excited!

Get the Gag Off Sibel!

Lukery has a new post on his Let Sibel Edmonds Speak blog with a new tactic to get Sibel Edmond's information into the public area. If you're a fan of Keith Olberman, this will peak your interest. Following are the relevant details:
[…] After trying for years to have hearings in congress, Sibel has offered to tell all that she knows if she is given an appropriate outlet in the media. That offer is now 6 weeks old, and I'm not holding my breath. Keith Olbermann appeared to be the best bet, but even his team is now stonewalling.
I'm currently trying to organise an interview with Prof. [Jonathan]Turley to discuss the case, but much more importantly, Turley is a favourite of Olbermann's Countdown. If you are so inclined, you might contact Countdown (Countdown@msnbc.com) and ask that:
a) Sibel appear on the show to 'tell all' or that
b) Prof Turley be invited on the show to discuss Sibel's case .
Congress will be on recess soon, so it's important that this happens in the next couple of days. If you'd like to leave Prof Turley a comment at his terrific new blog, you can find it here.

Laugh & Learn

What a great duo: George Carlin + Keith Olberman! If we could have the two of them on a regular basis, it would be more healing than a church tent revival!

Gedadda Heeah!

Keith Olbermann and New York Magazine article are the first mainstream sites to report that Rudy G. had a bad day at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday. If you read the blogs it seems he was booed twice! I hope there’s You Tube footage.
