Thanks to all the hard-working petitioners who have spent months on this historice effort, we have now gathered over 30,000 signatures of NYCregistered voters!

This is the minimum requirement to submit a ballot initiative to NY City Council. Now the foundation has been established. From here we will build and create a winning campaign that will result in placing the Initiative for a new, independent, comprehensive 9/11 investigation on the ballot in 2009. Read on...

Announces Milestone of 30,000 Petition Signatures!

(New York, NY, Sept. 8, 2008) --- On the 7th Anniversary of 9/11, the NYC 911 Ballot Initiative Campaign will announce it's historic achievement of having secured 30,000 signatures towards the creation of a new investigation of the crimes of 9/11/01! Members of the Campaign will be joined by speakers Dr. William Pepper, international human rights attorney, William Rodriguez, who saved many lives that day and was last man out of the World Trade Center, Cynthia McKinney, former Congresswoman and Green Party presidential candidate, along with other surprise guests. Campaign representatives will inform the public of its achievement and lay out the path ahead towards a new investigation of 9/11. The gathering of 30,000 petition signatures of NYC voters is the minimum amount required for placement on the ballot. [my bold]

Though the need for a new investigation is paramount, it is unlikely (nor desirable for that matter) that Congress nor any other government body are likely to take action. But through the current NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative Campaign the voters of New York City can create the conditions that would lead to an authentic, comprehensive investigation, which according to CBS/NY Times polls indicate as many as 84 million Americans would support! [my bold]
It is important to recognize that this effort is supported by many of the families of victims of 9/11. Many prominent Americans have also voiced their support. These include former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, consumer advocate Ralph Nader, Tony award winning actress Christine Ebersole, Dallas Cowboy football player Mark Stepnowski, AZ state senator Karen Johnson, former FBI field agent Colleen Rowley, retired CIA analyst Ray McGovern, retired NSA analyst Wayne Madsen, former senators Mike Gravel and Lincoln Chafee, Grammy award-winning hip hop artists Arrested Development, and more.
Unlike the woefully inadequate Kean/Hamilton Commission created by the Bush Administration, the citizen-based NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative Campaign will facilitate a genuine and impartial investigation, carried out by a lawfully recognized body, with subpoena authority, who will follow the evidence wherever it may lead. The Commission also intends to pursue remedies towards the alleviation of the hardships faced by many of those 9/11 first responders who have suffered terrible health effects and financial loss as a consequence of their heroic actions during that time.
In order to achieve the goal of placing the NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative on the ballot This may be the only opportunity to obtain truth and justice for the victims of 9/11. The NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative Campaign is a citizen-based effort to call attention to the fact that the U.S. government did not conduct a thorough investigation of 9/11. Through the creation of a public referendum, the most basic of democratic processes, the voters of NYC can now use their power of the petition to place a ballot initiative on the general election of 2009. RALLY FOR THE NYC 9/11 BALLOT INITIATIVE

The New York City 9/11 Ballot Initiative Campaign, a non-profit, citizens based organization, whose goal is the creation of an independent commission to lead a new investigation into the tragedy of 9/11, will be holding a rally on Wednesday, May 28th at 7:30 PM at St. Mark's Church in the Bowery. The rally will be an opportunity for the press and public to learn about the 9/11 Ballot Initiative Campaign and to fill out petitions. Upon reaching 30,000 valid signatures which are lawfully required to put the Initiative on the ballot, NYC voters will be enabled to create a fact-driven investigation of 9/11, which will be distinct from the former Kean-Hamilton Commission because this will go beyond political agendas by exploring all possible scenarios, following the evidence wherever it may lead. We have the potential to redirect the course of related political events which have had and will continue to have global repercussions just through exercising our constitutional right to create this public referendum calling for truth, accountability and justice. This is now the time of reckoning. In just the past year Japanese and Italian political officials have challenged the official account of 9/11 and called for a new investigation. Jesse Ventura was recently on Howard Stern explaining that the towers had to be the result of controlled demolition. Karen Johnson, state senator from Arizona, has gone public supporting the work of Richard Gage and Steven Jones. Also, Steven Jones just had a second paper peer-reviewed. Now imagine the impact there will be if the voters of NYC show that we cannot accept the seriously flawed 9/11 Commission Report and are calling for a impartial, through investigation. This is totally possible! A current count will be done over the next few days. We estimate having approximately 7,500 signatures. With just 300 people willing to spend 25-30 hours spare time with petitioning teams throughout NYC over the next 4-5 weeks, we can reach another 50-60,000 signatures!

Now is the time to support this campaign for a new, honest and authentic investigation of 9/11! This is a culmination of all the work done by researchers and activists to expose the discrepancies in the official account and the nature of 9/11 as what PNAC described as a "New Pearl Harbor".
